Pawn Loans — 25% per 30 Days
Borrow $100, pay back $125 in thirty days. South Dakota allows a pawnbroker up to 50% per 30 days and most shops in this state charge the maximum. We charge half — that is where the name comes from, and it has applied to every loan we have written since 2017. Stated as an annual rate it is roughly 300% APR, which we would rather put in front of you than have you work out afterwards. A pawn loan is cheapest when you redeem it quickly.

Why is it called Half Interest Pawn?
Because that is the rate. South Dakota lets a pawnbroker charge up to 50% per 30 days and nearly every shop in the state charges the maximum. Larsen's charges half of it — 25% per 30 days. Borrow $100 and you pay back $125 rather than $150. It has been the rate on every loan since the pawn counter opened in 2017.
What interest rate do you charge on a pawn loan?
25% per 30 days. Borrow $100 and you repay $125. South Dakota's maximum is 50% per 30 days, which would make that same loan $150, and Larsen's charges half of it. Stated as an annual rate that is approximately 300% APR. A pawn loan is short-term borrowing and is cheapest when redeemed quickly. There is no introductory rate, no minimum and no conditions.
What do I need to bring?
The item and a valid government-issued photo ID — a driver's license, state ID, tribal ID with a photo, passport or military ID all work. Chargers, cases, boxes and any paperwork help the offer. No appointment is needed; walk in during business hours. There is no residency requirement, so North Dakota customers are welcome.
What happens if I can't pay it back?
Nothing follows you. If the loan is not redeemed, the item becomes ours and is sold in the store — that is the whole consequence. There is no collections process and nothing is reported to a credit bureau. If you need more time, paying the 25% interest before the due date extends the loan another 30 days; the original amount stays owed until you redeem. If you think you may be late, call the shop before the due date.
What are the alternatives to a pawn shop in Mobridge?
